Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch painter. He was born in 1853 and died in 1890. Van Gogh was an impressionist and he managed to paint numerous pictures. At the age of 33 he arrived to Paris. There he painted his most famous pictures- 'Still Life With French Novels' (1887); 'The Sunflower' (1888); 'The Night Café In The Place Lamortine in Arles' (1889). The other famous pictures painted by Vincent Van Gogh are: 'Starry Night'; 'Vase With Fourteen Sunflowers'; 'Bedroom In Arles'; 'Mountain Landscape Behind Saint Paul's Hospital' and 'Café in Arles'.
Vincent was born in a village- Groot-Zundert- next to Breda in the Netherlands. His father was a pastor and Vincent was the oldest son of his parents. As a young man he did many things. He was selling pieces of art, teaching kids, selling books. At the age of 30 he decided to devote his entire life to painting.
Vincent was a very unhappy man. He had serious emotional problems. He had only one friend, Theo- his brother. Theo would help Vincent giving him money and looking for a place to live for him.
After moving to Paris in 1886, he started to paint. He was a passionate artist.
As long as he lived people did not want to buy his paintings. He felt very unhappy. He was not respected by the audience and by the critiques of art. His unhappiness resulted in the mental illness. He had a bipolar depression. Once, he cut his ear and painted his portrait without it. In 1890 he committed suicide. The last painting painted by Van Gogh was 'Ravens of Wheat Field'.
