We present you an interview with a worldwide known band-The Beatles. The interview was recorded many years ago, when the group still performed together. As most people remeber, there were four musicians in The Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star. Today only two of them are still alive-Paul and Ringo. John was attacked and killed by a psychopath in New York and George died in 2001 from cancer. The Beatles will never perform again but a couple of years ago Paul, Ringo and George discovered an old tape with John's voices recorded on it and they used it to record a song "Free as a Bird", which, like so many of their songs, became number one on many music charts.
Jenny : Hi guys!
Beatles: Hi Jenny!
A: I've heard that at the very beginning your band was called The Quarry Man-is that true?
George: That's right. It was at the time when Ringo wasn't the member of our group and we performed as trio.
A: I know that The Beatles come from Liverpool but whose idea was it to organize a pop band?
Paul: It was John's idea. As I've already said, there were three of us at the beginning: John, George and me.
A: But also Sutcliffe performed with you for some time, didn't he?
G: Yes, it was in 1957 but he left the band soon and P. Bestem joined us in our concert in Hamburg in Cavern Club, he played the drums. And his successor in the Beatles was Ringo.
A: And what about the name of your group-what does it mean?
P: Actually, it doesn't mean anything. When we decided to re-name the band, John came up with The Beetles but but he wrote down The Beatles. I don't know whether it was a spelling mistake or John did it on purpose. Anyway, we like the name and so we became famous as The Beatles.
A:What was the title of your first single?
John: It was called "Please, Please Me" and it was quite a hit-it occupied first places of music charts for many weeks. Soon after the single was realised, we recorded a long-playing record with the same title. The hits coming from that record were, for example, "Love Me Do", "Twist and Shout", "Do You Want to Know a Secret".
A: So you had a really successful start! The records that followed "Please, Please Me" were: "With The Beatles" (1963), "A Hard Day's Night" (1964), "Beatles for sale " (1964) and "Help". You had some interesting adventures with two of the records, didn't you?
P: Yes, indeed. There were two films made- "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help" and our song from those two albums were used in the soundtracks of the films. And, of course, we appeared in the films! It was a really interesting experience.
A: Was acting hard for you?
J: No, not at all. We played ourselves in the films so it actually wasn't acting, just being The Beatles.
A: What were the titles of your next records?
J: After the films, we recorded following albums: "Rubber Soul", "Revolver" and "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band". And later, our songs from the album "Yellow Submarine" were used in the cartoon which had the same title.
R: It was another new and interesting experience for us. And while we were working on the film, we also write some new songs which appeared on our next albums: "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be".
A: Was "Yellow Submarine" your last film or are you going to make another one?
G: Well, we have some ideas but we don't want to reveal our secret right now.
A: There came the time for my last question-are you going to record a new albums?
G: Of course, we are! At the moment, we have lots of ideas and material for at least three albums!
A: Thanks a lot for the interview, it was really nice to meet you.
