Educational systems in Great Britain and in the USA aren't very similar. However, in both these countries children have to attend the school each day, except for weekends and holiday.
In Britain pupils start their education at the age of five and it is compulsory to the age of fifteen. At the age of five pupils go to an infant school. Then after two years of learning they move to the junior school. At the age of eleven they must take a very stressful exam. If they pass it, they have to choose a secondary school. Among them there are few kinds of such a school: grammar school, modern ones and technical ones. In the USA, on the other hand, pupils start attending the primary school when they are seven years old. They graduate it when they are sixteen years old. Every child in the Sates is guaranteed the education till he reaches thirteen years old. American primary school is called elementary school. Then after five years of education pupils pass to secondary school. They should spend there about six years. The school, however, is divided into two divisions such as the junior high school and the senior high school. It is similar to British education system. When British and American young people finish their secondary schools, they may start their studies at the university or college. But at first, they have to pass a very important exam. It is called A-levels exam. When they pass it, they must decide where to go for studies. Most of them decide to study in the other town. After three years of studying they get the Bachelor's Degree. If they decide to study two years more, they may obtain the Master's Degree. The most important thing in studying in America is to collect enough number of credits, whereas British students don't have to collect the points, but they must pass every exam. The most prestigious and besiege universities in the USA are: Yale, Harvard, Pennsylvania and Cornell University, whereas in Great Britain: the London University, Oxford and Cambridge.
Summing up, in both countries there aren't any diametrical differences in the education system. The entire education seems to be very similar. There are also the similar types of basic schools. The changes may appear when we consider the secondary schools and studies.
