His full name was Kurt Donald Cobain. He is famous of being a musician and a singer. He used to perform grunge music, which was the revolutionary kind of music in 1990s.
Kurt was born in Hoquiam on 20th February 1967. The town is situated some 140 kilometers from Seattle, which became his favorite city later in life. His father worked as a mechanic and his mother- as w waitress.
He was a very weak child. He would constantly get some illness. He was bronchitic. As he was seven, his parents divorced and Kurt was left on his own.
After the parents divorced, Kurt could find no home for himself. He was looked after by his relatives, but they didn't want him to live with them for ever. He used to move from one aunt or uncle to the other. He soon became homeless and decided to live on his own under the bridge. As an eleven-year-old boy, Kurt heard the 'Sex Pistols' and he joined a band, which played similar kind of music. He had a friend- Kris Novoselic and together they used to listen to numerous punk-rock bands. Their favorite was Joy Division. There are critics, who claim that Nirvana is the direct descendant of the British punk groups. When Kurt was in high school, he didn't have many friends. People didn't like his way of dressing, speaking or singing. In 1985, Cobain decided that he can no longer live in Aberdeen and he moved to Olympia. Up till 1986, Kurt played in and formed numerous different bands. In 1986 there appeared Nirvana. He formed it together with Novoselic, although the two guys weren't best friends anymore. They had also Dave Grohl, who played drums. In two years time, they managed to record demos and distribute them in several places in the US. Their first real album- 'Bleach'- was recorded in 1989. They were best received in Great Britain. In 1991 they signed the contract with Geffen. Nirvana was the first band, which was new and not very popular, who got such chance from this corporation.
In 1992 Kurt decided to get married. Courtney Love had already been pregnant with him. Their wedding was organized in Hawaii in February. Soon after- in August- Kurt was taken to hospital and treated after the overdosing of heroine. In the very month, Courtney gave a birth to their child- Frances Bean Cobain. Kurt was keen on guns and he possessed about 30 different guns, most of them illegally. In Winter 1993-1994 Nirvana had its longest tour over Europe. They played twenty concerts and afterwards they had to cancel the tour, as Kurt had serious problems with his throat. He went to Rome then to meet his wife, who was also having the European tour with her band.
It was the 4th March, when Kurt Cobain was taken to hospital. He was in coma as he tried to commit the suicide by eating more than fifty pills and drinking a bottle of champagne. In media it was said that he had an accident. Even his relatives and friends didn't know what really happened. After a few days in hospital, Kurt came back home. His wife and managers persuaded him that he should join the detoxicating program in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, Kurt returned home after few days. People around him knew, he was in very bad condition. He drank hard and took much drugs. He wanted to be alone in his mansion. He closed the doors and let nobody in for two days. On 5th April, Thursday, Kurt killed himself by shooting a gun in his head. His body was found two days later by a worker, who came to the house, because he was supposed to install the security system. He entered the house with the gate on the back of the garden and found Cobain's body lying there. At the same time, Kurt's wife was under treatment in L.A., because she abused drugs. It took a few days until she was informed about her husband's death.
