Joseph Stalin was born in 1879 and he died in 1953. He is known in the whole world as a secretary general of the Communist Party in the Soviet Union. For 31 years (1922- 1953) Stalin was a dictator in USSR. He was the most influential person on the continent after the Second World War.

Joseph Stalin came from Gori- a small town somewhere in the Russian Empire. His full name was Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili. His mother was a housecleaner and his father was a cobbler. They had two other children, but neither of them survived. As a child, he started to learn in the Gori Church School. He was a brilliant student and he managed to win the scholarship. He was accepted to the Tbilisi Theological Seminary in 1984.

In general, the image of Stalin is very negative. However, it cannot be denied that he managed to introduce great changes in the USSR. The country changed from an agrarian into an industrialized one. But the transformation was occupied by the death of million of people. Stalin was a strong opponent of the politics of Western Europe. He was powerful enough to dominate over the whole Eastern Europe. His regime started the Cold War. Stalin was a very strong and aggressive ruler. His police would arrest and kill thousands or even millions of people, who did not want to follow Stalin's rules.

Up till today there are people, who greatly admire Stalin. But on the cards of history, he is remembered as the most cruel dictator.
