The talks between Poland and Europenian Union has sucessfully finished in 13 December on the Copenhagen Conferense. This historical day for Poland may be the last step for accepting the country by the EU to its commonwealth. The talks between representatives of the candidate countries and the EU has finished with the invitation of joining the commonwealth. This ending may be concidered as the succes of Poland.
The talks were progressing between the prime minister of Poland - Mr. Miller and Mr. Schroder, Mr. Blair, Mr. Chirac, Mr. Berlusconi. Mr. Miller took a definite standon the polish joining EU. He remained steadfast in his conditions. Poland was given a lot and it was a very big succes.
The main talks were concerning the EU Budget and the potential help for the candidate countries. The money which were to be devided between the nine countries were 42 billion euros. It was a large cash injection for those countries so everybody wanted to get as much as possible. The money were to be invested in agriculture and the county infrastructure. Poland was given a large amount of that money.
Joining EU meant for Poland new places of work - especially a large number of officials and clerks. It would mean a fall of unemployment and prospects for young, well educated people.
However, prospects are great the demands are also very big. The office workers must speak one of the official EU language fluently. The official languages are English, German, French.
The referendum for and against EU will be held in Poland in 21 May. This means that the government must work hard to prepare country for joining the EU. On the other hand it is important to encourage people to the EU as it is people who will decide about joining the commonwealth. So, there is next sixteen months of hard work in front of the polticians.
Joining the EU is for Poland very important as it would finish our isolation in the international arena which was held by over fourty years by communists. On the other hand we are very important for EU as we will open its way to the East of Europe.
