Poland became a member country of the European Union on 1st May 2004. For our country and us- its citizens- it was the beginning of a new era. A few years before our country joined the EU, people started to wonder, if the access to it is advantageous or disadvantageous for the country and for us. In my opinion, it was a good things, however we have to be aware of all possible dangers and threats of this situation.

Firs of all, as a member of the EU, Poland is given more money for different developmental projects. Our economical situation is not really good, so we may profit much from the EU. It makes it possible for Poland to repair different financial deficits and develop in many ways.

Moreover, being a member of the EU, Polish people have better chances to get a job abroad. Today, we are free to chose, in which member country we want to study, work or even live. It seems to me, that as the unemployment in Poland is so high, it is really good that we may look for a job in many countries.

Furthermore, Polish companies and corporation joined the European market. Polish products became available in other European countries. The competition mobilizes the producers to rise the quality of their products, which is very advantageous for customers.

However, we have to be aware that being a member country of the EU means also many restrictions and obligations, which may be difficult to fulfill. IF the government is not wise enough, we may get into deep financial crisis.

For small private companies and enterprises, the situation can be very difficult. The competition became even bigger and many of these enterprises go bankrupt.

Summing up, in my opinion it is good that Poland became a member of the EU. We have a chance to strengthen our country. Young people may educate and work abroad and learn new skills and abilities.
