Poland became a member of European Union in May 2004. This event was widely talked about and there were many opponents, as well as many supporters of the entrance to the EU. I will try to summarize the arguments for and against it.
For Polish people it was very important that when we enter the EU, we will be given more money for development. It may help us to modernize our agriculture, roads and many different areas of life.
What is seen as another great advantage is that now we can easily travel to all countries of EU. We don't need visas to those countries anymore. To cross the border, we don't even need passports anymore.
Another plus of our entering the EU, is that the prices of some products are now lower than they were before the access. However, thare are also such products, which became more expensive.
In my opinion, the greatest advantage is that Polish students, as citizens of the EU, are now free to study abroad, in some country od the EU. They have chances for better education are better job on the future.
Moreover, Polish people may now look for job in some of the European countries.it is very important, because it helps to reduce the unemploynment and makes looking for a job easier for us.
We also don't have to pay special money for most products we buy in foregin countries.
In my opinion, except for the rise of some prices, there are no more cons of the access to EU. It is very good that we decided to enter the Union. Now we have better chances for development and we live in more open world. I hope that in the future, all Polish people will realize that it was a very good decision.
