Every man has a natural right to live and no one can take it away. Do we have the right to decide about someone's life?
What does exactly euthanasia mean? It is known as a kind of assassination of terminally ill patients. Sometimes it is called an act of mercy. Euthanasia is legalised only in Holland, but it happened also in other countries. Before euthanasia may be carried out legally, a terminally ill patient has to go through 16 steps. What is more, two doctors have to decide that the patient is ready for the "operation". Some doctors claim that euthanasia is a specific kind of medical service.
A lot of people have animals. We love our pets and they are irreplaceable for us. If our pets are ill, we always try to help them. We don't want them to suffer and when they are serious ill we ask the vet to curb their suffering. The doctor put the pets to eternal sleep. This kind of operation may be called the animal euthanasia. So if we accept the fact that we kill animals to curb their sufferings, why can't we accept the euthanasia of terminally ill people? Can we compare the human life with animal existence?
For the Catholics believing in the future life after their death the euthanasia is a moral dilemma. The life in catholic religion is treated as the highest value and a kind of present from God. We are given it and God has the only right to take it away. The Catholics often dedicate their sufferings to other people. On the other hand, some psychologists supporting the euthanasia think that it is a kind of medicine cure, which is the greatest gift we can give the terminally ill patients.
Some experts claim that they try to help the patients when there is no solution to ease their pain. Sometimes even the strongest painkillers can't get rid of pain. On the other hand, there is also the possibility that the human body may become immune to this pain.
There are also some abuses of the right to die. For example in Holland the right to decide about the death has became a kind of duty to die. There were about 11000 cases when some patients were killed, but they weren't aware what the doctors were doing them. The doctors didn't care what they feel and the opinion of their families. They thought that their patients were living too long or the beds were needed for someone's else. This may be considered as a disadvantage of the euthanasia. Now some patients are afraid of going to see the doctor, because they don't know whether they back alive.
I think that family should have decisive voice about the potential euthanasia of the family member. If they visit the patient, it means that they love and need him. For every family it is a hard decision to take. No one has the right to decide about the life of the family member. There was a case in the United States, where the woman was dying because of cancer. She decided to be carried out the euthanasia. She claimed to be ready, but her family didn't want to hear about the idea. On the other hand, they were too weak to stop the woman and didn't dissuade her from the idea.
To sum up, I would like to write I disapprove the euthanasia. As I already have said, no one can take somebody's life away. And we can't call the euthanasia the help to the terminally ill patients. It is against the nature and euthanasia shouldn't be legalised. We should also think about the situation that thanks to the huge development of the medicine the incurable illnesses may be cured soon.
