Euthanasia is a very controversial problem. Arguments are divided between two groups: some people support the euthanasia, whereas the others think it is wrong. In Holland euthanasia is legal and the idea has many followers in Poland too. They insist that euthanasia is the way to relieve the terminally ill patients of suffering and saver their enormous pain. In this point of view euthanasia isn't an act of killing, but rather it seems to be an act of mercy. The followers claim that euthanasia may be allowed only when patients don't have any chances to recover and suffer a terrible pain. In such a case the euthanasia seems to be the only solution to break their suffering. The opponents, on the other hands, think that everyone is guaranteed to have a natural right to life. What is more, the development of medicine is huge nowadays and it may happen that in a short time some medicines appear which help to treat diseases thought as incurable. There are also some cases when patients who seem to be incurable ill miraculously survive. Some think that instead of spending money on trying to sustain life of terminally ill patients it is better to spend effort on these who seem to have more chances for improvement. When we want to discuss the problem of euthanasia we have to think about this great value which is life and take into consideration the decision of the ill person.
