A: Good afternoon.

K :Good afternoon.

A: I have an appointment for a job interview at 3 o'clock.

K: You are Ms Ewa Nowak, aren't you?

A: Yes, I am. I'm applying for a job of a personal assistant in your company.

K : Have you brought your CV with you?

A: No, I have forgotten about it. Is it a problem?

K: We prefer the applicants to bring their CV as facilitates the interview. As you haven't got your CV with you, I will start our conversation from asking you about your personal information. First of all, where do you live?

A: I live in Kielce, in Kosciuszki Street 25.

K: How old are you?

A: I'm 28.

K: Are you married or single ?

A: At the moment, I am engaged and I'm getting married in October.

K: Have you got any children?

A: No, not yet.

K: I had to ask about it because we demand availability from our employees.

A: Excuse me, may I ask you a question?

K: Yes, of course

A: I'm planning to have a baby in the future-can I expect any help from your company then?

K: Of course you can. After having a baby, you will be given a maternity leave. And there is a kindergarten for our employees' children so you will be able to have your baby looked after there.

A: That is good news.

K: Ok, now let me ask you a question concerning your educational background.

A: Excuse me but I have one more inquiry about working here and being a mother.

K: Ok, go ahead then.

A: If it happens that my child or my husband falls ill, will I be allowed to take a day off?

K: Of course you will. There are special regulations concerning cases of illness in an employee's family.

A: Oh, good, that's a relief for me. Could you, please, remind me what your last question was?

K: I asked you about your educational background.

A: Yes, now I remember. I graduated from the university 5 years ago, with an MA degree in economy.

K: Did you attend any other courses?

A: Yes, I attended a course in marketing and I have a diploma in banking, as well.

K: That's excellent. What about your computing skills?

A: I'm quite skillful at using computer and I also know economic computer programs.

K: Can you operate a fax or Xerox?

A: Yes, I can.

K: And what about your work experience? Have you got any?

A: Yes, I started working in a big financial company in an accounting department, just after graduating from the university. I also worked in a bank in Poznan for the last year. I liked the job very much but I could not work there any more because I had to move to Kielce. But I have the credentials from my both employers.

K: That's excellent. I see you are very well qualified for this job.

A : It is nice to hear it from you.

K: Since you have such excellent qualifications and an extensive experience, I think that I could offer you some more responsibilities that I originally thought. Of course, your salary would increase then. What foreign languages can you speak?

A: I can speak English fluently- the manager of my department in my first job was an Englishman. I also can speak Italian quite well and I know some German but I'm better at writing than at speaking.

K: Could you tell me now what your strong and weak points are? I am very interested in what kind of person you are.

A: First of all, I am reliable and responsible, I always treat my duties as priority. I am also punctual and good at planning my work, therefore everything is always done on time. I like working in a group- I am a co-operative kind of person.

K: Does it mean that you have an experience in working with a group?

A: Yes, when I was working in a bank, I was responsible for the work of a group of 5 people.

K: It is certainly an important experience for the job I would like to offer you. But I have got one more question-can drive a car?

A: Yes, I have had a driving license for nine years.

K: Excellent! So you are an experienced driver. It is important, because you will be given a company car. It looks like you are a perfect person for this job. Have you got any questions?

A: Yes, what would be my working hours?

K: You will work from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., sometimes you will be asked to work overtime. But, of course, you will be paid extra for it.

A: And what exactly my responsibilities are going to be?

K: You will be responsible for arranging meetings with our contractors whom you will present our current offer. You will also prepare contracts for new clients who decide to start making business with our company.

A: I have one more question-how many days off will I have?

K: In the first year of your working in our company, you will be allowed to have 3 weeks of holidays. And in addition to the company car, which I've already mentioned, you'll also be given a company mobile phone. Could we meet tomorrow to discuss the details concerning your responsibilities and to sign the contract?

A: Yes, of course.

K: Will 11 a. m. suit you?

A: Yes, it's ok for me.

K: Thank you then and see you tomorrow.

A: Thank you and good bye.
