Bringing up a child is a hard task which people had to face a thousand years ago and which they must deal with today. It seems obvious that it is parents' responsibility and duty to look after their children until they are adult and can start living on their own.
A new-born child provides family with a lot of happiness but also with many problems that its parents have to deal with. A little baby depends on it parents entirely and would not survive long if left without any care. Bringing up a child is a process that takes many years. Parents' duty is not only to provide their children with food and clothes but, most of all, to love them and spend time with them. Therefore, being a parent involves responsibility and being mature. Unfortunately, nowadays the number of girls becoming pregnant in their teens is increasing. As their pregnancies are unplanned and unwanted they often are not mature enough to take responsibility for a little human being they gave birth to. Therefore, sometimes those young mothers decide to leave a child in hospital or, what is worse, they abandon their new-born babies somewhere in the street or in the park risking their lives. The only chance of those children to have a normal life is to be adopted, otherwise they have to spend their whole lives in orphanages, deprived of parental love and care.
Paradoxically, as the children grow up, they demand more attention and care. The problems begin when they enter the age of puberty. Then, children often rebel against their parents as they think they are already old enough to be more independent. They often start smoking, drinking or even taking drugs which often leads to breaking the law and to problems with the police. Even if a troublesome teenager land in juvenile detention centre, he or she still needs parental love and care. Parents can contribute a lot to the rehabilitation process during which their child will need their support.
Parents are the people who shape our personalities and teach us to follow the right way in our life. They not only provide us with proper conditions for our growth and development but, most of all, they love us and show us that we are important. Their love is unconditional and we can always be sure that no matter what difficulties we go through, parents will always be there for us.
