Home should be that place in the world where everybody can feel safe. Unfortunately, today the rate of domestic violence is still increasing. What is happening? Is the rate really increasing or the victims are starting to talk about the violence?
Domestic violence seems to be the worst kind of the violence. For everyone of us home is synonym of a place full of love and peace. It is something extremely bad, when this kind of place turns into the hell. How harmful consequences can it bring? And what are they reasons? More often people who decided to set up a family start to argue and behave as the worst enemies. Many times the reason of this situation is abusing alcohol. Today the problem of alcoholism is one of the biggest problems of Polish families. It may lead to the arguments, fights and poverty. Often the victims of that fights are wives and children. Children are completely innocent and their childhood can turn into a nightmare, when their parents are addicted to alcohol.
The problem is very difficult to solve. The victims of domestic violence are often afraid to talk about it or they don't want to accuse a husband or a father. They hope that he will change and everything will be all right. Often the beating husband is the only breadwinner of the family, so everyone should be submissive. I think that every case of domestic violence should be reported to the police. The punishments for abusing wives or children should be stricter. In the most drastic cases oppressor should be sent to prison. Moreover, the neighbours should be more careful and when they hear that something bad is going on in the next flat they should call the police. We should react before it will be too late.
