The full name of my favorite actor is Jack Joseph Nicholson. He is believed to be the best-known actor in the world. Where does his fame come from? The answer to such question is not easy to answer. Jack Nicholson is not as terribly handsome as Brad Pitt. He has no such charm as Leonardo Di Caprio. His body is not as well-built as the body of Schwarzenegger. Nicholson has never been James Bond. He has difficulties with using the gun. What is there so special in his appearance? What makes people from the whole world adore him?
Jack Nicholson was born in Neptune, New Jersey, on 22nd of April 1937. His mother gave him the name John. He didn't have really happy childhood. His father left the family, before Jack was born. His mother's parents took care of him, when he was a baby. He was growing up believing that he was the son of his grandparents. He also believed that his mother was in reality his sister. He wouldn't have gotten to know the truth if it was not for the journalist of 'Time'…
He had plans to go to college, but he went to California for the holiday and didn't come back home. Jack went to Act School and attended meetings of the Players Ring Theatre. However, he realized that he didn't like working in theater. Before he quit, the movie director- Roger Corman saw him at the rehearsals and asked him to play in his film "The Cry Baby Killer". Jack started to play in low-quality movies, that were not played in Polish cinemas (like: 'Too Soon To Love' or 'Wild Ride').
The breaking point in his career happened in 1969. Then he happened to play with Henry Fonda and Dennis Hopper in 'Unconstrained Horseman'. For the role of the lawyer in this movie, he was nominated to Oscar by the American Film Academy. He was awarded the Golden Globe in 1975 as well as the Oscar for the role in the film by Milos Forman. His career became expanding. He worked together with Polanski on 'Chinatown'. Though they seemed to friends at the beginning of making the movie, the situation changed when Polanski played the role in which he and Nicholson were fighting. During the rehearsals, Polanski hurt Jack with a knife. Finally both men became friends, but it took them quite a long time.
Nicholson played in many movies together with very famous actresses- Michelle Pfeifer, Jessica Lange, Susan Sarandon, Kim Bassinger, Cher or Helen Hurt. The most famous films in which Jack played are: 'Postman Always Rings Twice', 'Blood and Wine', 'Tender Words', 'Wolf' or 'One Flight Over Cuckoo's Nest'. Thanks to his great talent, many films grew famous. Jack Nicholson was awarded Oscar 4 times. He got nominations 11 times. Apart from that he got 5 Golden Globes. He is an excellent actor. He likes saying that to each role he gives 85% of his real self.
Films are not only Jack's profession, but also a great hobby. He loves his job. His patience and hard work made him really successful. He seems to be a very happy person. He tries not to complain ever. He always wears dark sunglasses and he smiles brightly. Nicholson says that this smile is the best gift which he got from God. He claims that he didn't get too fat only because he laughs a lot. He is one of few celebrities, who let themselves be photographed by paparazzi. Jack shows much understanding to them- they are simply doing their work. Nicholson has also other hobbies apart from acting. He is especially keen on Italian food. He loves playing golf and skiing. He has own residence in Aspen, where he spends free time with his family. He considers family most important in his life. Nicholson has two daughters- Jennifer, 35, whose mother is Sandra Knight and Raymond (8 ), whose mother is Rebecca Broussard. The actor divorced in 1996 and hasn't got married since. However, he is going to marry his daughter's mother- Rebecca. He says it is time for him to relax and dedicate time to his family.
