Although Polish cinematography has been struggling with several difficulties for many years, there are some great people among those, who work on Polish movies. In my opinion the person who did most for the movie industry in our country is Andrzej Wajda. He is a film director and he has made more than 20 movies in his career. His films are famous not only in Poland, but all around the world. He is appreciated and respected by the viewers in many countries. The audience love him, because he is able to illustrate very complicated and difficult problems of people and the world we live in. He showed the problems of the city Łódź, which used to be a city, where Polish textile industry flourished, in the movie 'The Promised Land'. After the year 1989, when Poland was becoming the capitalistic country, the city was struggling with terrible difficulties. Most factories bankrupted and many Polish women lost their jobs. The most popular film, in which many political problems were shown was 'A Man of Iron'. It shows us the situation of Poland in the 70s, when there was a strong opposition of people, who wanted to live in a free country, against the group holding power in the country. This film had a very strong influence on Polish people. Many of them identified themselves with the characters from the movie, who were fighting for their personal and political freedom. It seems to be surprising that the film is still very popular. It is considered on of the best Polish movies ever made. Even young people like watching it, and it is the great piece of art produced by Polish movie industry.
