Polish teenagers look for the new authority. They want to live comfortably and have a lot of fun in the same way. It seems that they have found the new authority. I mean both American and British culture styles. However, the first type is more popular among Polish teenagers.
At first I would like to mention that today young people celebrate new events such as Valentines Day or Halloween and they are getting very popular today. In this way Polish tradition decreases in the importance. People often forget about the important internal celebrations. Polish teenagers prefer sending Valentine cards or watching TV.
I think that it isn't our fault that we want to imitate British and American culture and their events. In my opinion, media and press are guilty for that situation. They show us how people live in the States or in Great Britain and we want to live in the same way. A lot of English words are commonly used in our language. Moreover, many products imported from above countries overwhelm our national market. It is quite normal for us to watch some commercials or clips in English. We admire the American lifestyle. But it isn't very different than ours. I think that we are very similar to them.
Let's take a look on the lives of student in our city. They are used to take a part-time job and learn in the same time. That type of young people is still evolving in our country. The experts called the new generation of Polish young people "Me-generation". "To the edge of egoism. Don't touch me, don't bother me, etc. They've got more possibilities of living and are more concentrated on using it. Firstly, me and my career, then my family, friends and social life."
However, there are also some positive sides of this situation. Thanks to it, our country seems to grow up in the economic field. We gain the knowledge of many interesting things and we have a good time in the same way. It is said that life is the only one so why don't we try to spend it a funny way.
