"The Da Vinci Code" is the film based on the bestseller written by Dan Brown. It was directed by Ron Howard who is definitely not a famous director. I was looking forward the movie as I liked the book very much. Unfortunately I cannot say it was exactely what I expected it to be.

The worldwide renown historian and symbologist profesor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) is called to the Luwr Museum in the middle of the night, where he founds out about mysterious murder. It was the custodian of the museum, Jacques Sauniere, who was murdered. But before death he managed to leave few symbols and signs. That made Langdon suspected of the murder. However the historian cannot feel safe there is one person to help him. Young woman, Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), the police agent who is specializing in codes and ciphers, undertake the attempt to solve a riddle. The key part of this riddle are the paintings of the famous Leaonardo Da Vinci.

I knew what to expect from the plot as I have read the book. Nevertheless, I found the characters completely unconvincing. Tom Hanks was absolutely bland, although I think he is a great actor. A particular weakness of the film was very slow and long - winded action. On the other hand the director had succeed in creating a complex plot.

So, if you are looking for a way to spend an evening with your boyfriend or girlfriend I would strongly advice not to waste your money on "The Da Vinci Code" and you better go to the café together.
