People need energy. All our machines and world is moved by the energy. For people it would be disaster to stay without light, gas, water. But the more important is fact that all the factories, industry would be destroyed by lack of energy. That is why people are inventing new things all the time. As we know the extract of coal and oil is very expensive and this sources are empting. That is why we hear more often about the nuclear energy. This the future of energy. However the production of nuclear power is quite cheap, the cost of building the nuclear power station is very big. The worst thing is that if we build such power plant ther is no place for any mistakes. The explosion of atomic station is very dangerous for people and environment. We could become convinced after 1986 when there was an explosion of nuclear power station in Chernobyl.
However the atomic explosions are dangerous they just don't happen. It is that one explosion from Chernobyl which scared people. But we should remember that it is the fourth source of energy which is very important and closing it down would caused a lot of troubles and deficiency of energy. On the other hand, the nuclear power is much better for the environment. It does not produce the fumes or carbon dioxide which is responsible for air contamination.
However, there are many adventages of nuclear power there are also disadvantages. The scientist say that it is not that safe as we all think. The atomic plants are also dangerous for environment. It is true that they don't emit the carbon dioxide. The side effects of using atomic power is even worse because these are the radioactive waste. They are even more dangerous for the environment. It takes thousands of years to decompose.
Furthermore, the general belief that nuclear energy is cheap is also a myth. The building of nuclear power stations is very expensive as we need it to be extra safe. We can not afford the mistake. In the case of explosion the costs of medical help would be huge. Moreover, the consequences of explosion are irreversible. The radiation sickness is very dangerous. It causes radiation - induced tumours, inborn defects of mind and body. The next thing is that there are different people in the world. Some of them are good and some of them are not. What would happen to people if that kind of nuclear power station had been overtaken by crazy scientist? And what about atom bombs? Some of them were already dropped causing death of thousands of people and radiation sickness.
We need to remember that many of the plants are already too old. the changing of the equipment and the security system is redundant. The disaster is very possible to happen and the governments are not eager to pay more money for the modernizing the plants. In this case maybe it is worth to look for another source of energy. We need to find something what would be eco - friendly and people - friendly. Maybe the solar power would be the alternative?
Unfortunately, nowadays we still need nuclear power and other, new sources of energy are just not good enough. In my opinion people should concetate on securing the nuclear power stations against the explosions and other unforseen accidents. In my opinion all plants should be built deeply, under ground to stop the emition of radioactive fumes from getting into the air. The best soultion however is to find other source of energy.
