The main source of energy and fuels in XIX century was coal. It was also used in all kind of machines. It has changed in XX century. The main ingredient of the energy source was oil. However, people could use this fuels to move the great machnery and workings the fuel consuption caused a large environmental pollution and devastation. The effect of upsetting the nature is the green house effect and enlarging the hole in the ozon layer. This all changes are also responsible for acid rains and global warming. The one way to stop the ecological disaster is to eliminate the use of fossil fuels. In this situation the only hope for people is the nuclear power.
The nuclear power may be solution for getting the energy but is it as safe as we think? It is true that the nuclear fuel is environmental friendly but the way of making the nuclear energy is very dangerous. The plutonium which is used to the production is radioactive. Moreover the processed plutonium is leaving radioactive wastes which are dangerous not only for envoronment but also for people. Although the nuclear power station are very well protected and their constructions are very safe there is always a risk of explosion. If that kind of explosion occures, it will cause a lot of damage. We have experienced that kind of disaster in 1986 when the nuclear power station in Chernobyl exploded. It was a scientific town, designed for the scientists from ZSSR. Nowadays it is just town of ghosts which is still radioactive. A lot of people died than and although the immediate evacuation the radioactive contamination was unavoidable. In the next years all world was a witness of people burned and dying from cancer, children where born with the defects, sometimes they looked like monsters. Nowadays, the nuclear power stations are much more safe but there is always a risk. The only thing we can do is to insist of better protection of the atopmic stations.
The only future of safe energy is the sun and water. This natural sources of energy are the only one which are good for people and environment. Using sun and hydrogen doesn't produce any side effects like radioactive wastes. I am sure that scientist are already working on using that new ecological energy. I hope we will benefit from it very soon.
