Snowboard is relatively a new sport discipline. But over several years it has changed much. At the beginning it was a wooden board, similar to surfing board. Today it is produced out of glass-fibers, plastic and other artificial materials and it has a different shape, which enables quicker and smoother slide. There are many companies producing snowboards, which are on the market from the very beginning of snowboarding.
The first snowboards has rudimentary bindings and metal soles. With time, there appeared many different kinds of snowboards- they had different shapes and were produced of different materials. In 1989 the company Nidecker developed and introduced the modern board. It was curved and had best bindings. Nowadays many people have such snowboards. They were the prototype of today's alpine models. In 1991 there appeared a model 'parfum des neiges'. These two models are most outstanding and they are most popular all around the world among the snowboarders. All other producers follow their examples.
