Gray wolves
For centuries people used to hate and fear of wolves. Nowadays we consider these animals a symbol of naturally wild life. Although our culture created many stories and myths, which say about wolves killing people, in reality such situation happened only few times. In North America there were three attacks of the wolves on people, but no person was killed. Nevertheless, wolves attack and kill cattle, moose, deer and caribou. Most of these wolves are of gray color, but they can be as well black or white. This species live in the forests an tundra in the North.
Red wolves
There are very few red wolves living on our planet nowadays. By the end of 1970s, most of them had died either of hunger or killed by people. They used to live on the territories of the USA. At the beginning of the 1970s, one company tried to breed these wolves on some islands in North Carolina. They were trapped and transported to the new environment. Thanks to that many red wolves were saved form extinction. Today there are about 250 red wolves living in natural environment.
This species is significantly smaller than gray wolves. Red wolves live on the southern territories. Their color is reddish or brown. Unlike the gray wolf, red ones don't live in packs, but in pairs.
The development of civilization has terrible effect on natural environment. Many species of animals are threatened with extinction. The polluted air and water as well as the expansion of people on new territories cause deaths of thousands of animals. Although we know, that we should take care of the environment and animals better, most of us do nothing to change our behavior. If we don't start changing our way of living and thinking at once, we may cause the natural catastrophe soon.
