"Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know, what will happen to you". These are words Forest Gump's mother. The main character of the movie by Robert Zemeckis is a very nice man, who is not really intelligent. In a film, Forest Gump is telling his life story to different people. He meets them on a bus stop in Savannah.
Forest has many difficulties during his whole life. As a child, he is not accepted by his peers. They consider him stupid idiot. There is only one girl, who like him and who is kind to him- Jenny. For Forest the most important authority in life is his mother. He remember everything she said to him and follow her advices in his whole life. Although he is not intelligent, he learnes to do many things in his life. He plays baseball, he is a runner, a soldier in the war in Vietnam. He also becomes millionaire in shrimp-business and the owner of fish- corporation. Forest Gump has a life different from normal people. But he is very brave and courageous and saves lives of many of his friends. He is very honest and good person. For all his life he is considered by others to be stupid, but he remembers the words of his mother- "stupid is who stupid does". He is constantly worried about Jenny, whom he loves from the childhood. He gets to know that he has a son with Jenny and finally they get married. Forest is happy that his son is a normal and intelligent boy. Unfortunately, Jenny dies soon after the wedding. Forest knows, that there is a rule in life, which says that "one should not forget the past when a new chapter begins". After all, he understands that life and death go together and that we all have some destiny.
I wouldn't say that Forest Gump is stupid. On the contrary, I consider him a very wise person, a good son and best friend for other people. The story of his life is closely related to important events in American history. The movie shows an amusing and dramatic story of a person, who shows everyone that it is not necessary to be intelligent and well-educated to become famous and wealthy. What is more- he proves that it is better to be optimistic and cheerful in life.
In the movie, Forest is played by Tom Hanks. The actor got an Oscar Award for the role in "Forest Gump". Also the director and the producers of the movie received the Oscars. The film makes people feel compassionate, but it makes them laugh at the same time. It is melodramatic, but- first and foremost- it is a great comedy. The main character teaches us, how to achieve success in life and how to be a good person. Young Forest begins to run because he is chased by other kids, who laugh at him. He succeeds because of his special approach towards life. He knows, that he cannot surrender or quit. He is patient and optimistic about everything. The failures and obstacles that happened in his life made him even stronger. His mother said, that fate throws people here and there, like leaves that move due to wind. However, Forest is a good director of his life- he fights and wins finally. It is one of the best films I've ever seen and it encourages people to reflection on their lives.
