Dear Mr. Belka,

I am writing in response to the latest news. I am very concerned about the reform that is about to be brought into effect. The reform mentioned is the idea to introduce mathematics as a compulsory part of the school-leaving examination.

In my opinion, the concept fot the educational reform is ludicrous. If mathematics is required in the school-leaving exam, many intelligent and students are bound to fail it. The reason for their failure, however, would not be their lack of proper preaparation for the exam but rather their lack of talent for mathematics. We all have different abilities; some people have an aptitude for science and studying mathematics is not hard for them. Others, however, are gifted at arts. For them, learning mathematics is a challenge which they may find very hard to face.

I would suggest that the best idea would be not to make any changes in the school-leaving examination. Being a student myself, I am already tired of the continuous reforms in the Polish educational sysytem. If they are not well- thought, the reforms should not be brought into effect, otherwise they create confusion and contribute to the poor quality of Polish education.

I hope you and your ministers will rethink the plans to introduce the changes in the school-leaving examination.

Yours sincerely,

XY
