If we have money we have power… in this century people are obsessed with getting more and more money. Earning money becomes their only goal in life.

Our society is materialistic one. People want to have as many things as possible and only the best things. They compete in who has better things. If one family buys a car, their neighbours immediately buy another one and a better one. Or they buy more than one car: for themselves and for their relatives. When we buy a new house in some nice place other people immediately buy similar one. The English say that one has to "keep up with the Jones". It is a rat race. We want very much to have better things that the people we know. We want to send our children to the best schools and to give them whatever they want. We believe that our children have to possess the same things as the children of our neighbours. We want them to become successful in life and have good job and earn much money.

In rich societies people are obsessed with earning more and more money. Later they use it to buy goods, for example food, clothes, houses, computers, cars and many more. Later they immediately want to buy new things and do not use those that they have. Moreover, they do not know the real value of things. They believe that the more they possess they better they are. They may realise that they were mistaken only at the end of their life. They do not want to die because they have to leave all what is important for them. They do not want to lose things.

The people who live in poor countries live a better live. They are smiling all the time and invite everybody from the street to their houses. They talk with everybody. They do not have to lock their houses because they do not have anything valuable inside. They know that if you have money you are greedy.

The main problem of the modern world is that the people who live in rich countries do not want to share things with the people who live in poor countries. In American there are people who have many cars and in Africa there are people who do not have anything and are starving.

However, we need money in our lives. We have to buy food, clothes and things necessary for life. But if we have too much of it we do not how to spend it. Many people concentrate in their lives on making money. They only want to have it and not to use it. But money is nothing it is a paper only.

In the past people could live without money. They were bartering. They were exchanging things that they have for things that they needed. There are good points and band points of this system.

I think that I proved to you that most people want to have money in their lives.
