In the history of mankind the amount of money that you owned has always been the sign of your status and your success in life. It was obvious that the more money you had the higher in the social pyramid you were. Because of that many people spent their whole life trying to gather more money. The question is: did it make them happy?

I have never thought about money as the most important thing in our life. However, when I was working on this topic many thoughts passed through my mind. Now I am sure that even if it is not important, money certainly affects our character and way of life. The majority of our decisions may be shaped by it.

Money is the driving factor of many people's lives. They are motivated to work by the vision of the money they would get for it. The money they have allows them to buy various things and creates the sense of security and stability in their lives. Some people do not want to gain money in an honest way - the illegal means of earning money are usually more efficient. The temptation is huge. Money can change us in the eyes of other people. Even the worst disadvantages and negative features of the character may be overlooked by the others if we have a large quantity of money.

As a consequence of the powerful effect the money has on our lives, lack of it is a very stressful situation. The people who do not have money are nervous and broken. Sometimes it leads to quarrels in families or even to death. Our point of view on many different aspects of life is affected by the fact that we have or do not have money. Our most hidden characteristics may reveal because of that.

To conclude: I still do not know what is better, being rich of poor man. I think that money itself is not the source of joy or sorrow. It depends on the person who uses it: if he or she would use them correctly or would be controlled by them
