Nowadays, we hear about environmental pollution almost every day. We know a lot about such problems as air pollution, acid rains, cutting down the rain forests, desroying the ozon layer, etc. But very seldom we hear about water contamination with the oil spill which is also very big problem. The contamination of water with oil causes death of not only birds and seals but also all the submarine world.
The spill of oil happens as a result of collisions ships with rocks. Those ships are also called tankers or oilers. Although they are very well protected against any accidents there is always a risk. Unfortunatelly sometiomes we need to deal with that kind of pollutions, too. It is very important to act quickly as the oil is very dangerous for the environment. It clings to the feathers of the birds which are not able to fly afterwards and usually they are condemned to death. In that situation birds need to be washed but it is not easy. A lot of people are needed to catch them and to clean them. Afterwards the oil must be taken out of the water as fast as possible. It can be suck out of the water surface but this way is very expensive and it needs special equipment. The other way of cleaning the water is to dissolve the oil by special detergents. This way is the cheapest and the fastest. On the other hand the toxic remnants which were not dissolved are settling on the botton of the ocean or sea and they are still dangerous for flora and fauna. There is one more way, the special kind of bacteria may be used to eat the oil from the surface. This is the best way because it is the most natural but it lasts long and very often the oil gets to the banks and contaminates the soil, too. The best way to prevent this kind of destruction is to stop shipping oil. But is it possible?
