Educational system in USA is decentralised and it depends on states' regulations. Every state regulates the education in its own way. In the States the compulsory age is between 7 and 16 years old. Every child has to attend a school, regardless of the race and religion. At the age of 7 children attend an elementary school. They learn there until they reach 12 years old. Elementary schools are usually public and co-educational. Children are taught such subjects as maths, reading, writing, science, art, geography, history and music. Then the pupils go to a secondary school. At first, they go to Junior High School and when they are 15 they attend Senior High School. They take part in such classes as English, science, maths and physical education. When they graduate they can start studies. They may choose between large universities and small colleges, which lasts 4 years. After the graduation students achieve the Bachelor's Degree. To get this title students are supposed to achieve a certain number of special points by taking part in a different kind of classes. If a student wants to study longer for two next years, he receives the Master's Degree. After the graduation of two or three additional specializations, students may be given the Doctor's Degree. The most prestigious universities in the States are: Yale, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard and Columbia.
