About 70 million years ago the world didn't look like it looks today. During the Upper-Cretaceous period it was ruled by gigantic creatures - dinosaurs, such as Triceraptorses and Tyranosauruses. There were also smaller dinosaurs. To these smaller ones belonged a dinosaur called Veliciraptor. Its name means "a speedy predator".
Velociraptors seemed to be much swifter and smarter then human and they had sharp teeth and large eyes. Their long fingers and toes with big claws caused enemies' fear. The most dangerous were their large sickles like claw, in which each foot was equipped. They used these claws were to slash their preys. Velociraptors were about 2-3 meters in length, but they were very strong and had ability to communicate with other dinosaurs.
Experts don't know exactly why dinosaurs died, but some of them believe that a huge asteroid struck the earth killing all these creatures. The other thesis says that some kind of disease or a rapid climate change caused the decline of the dinosaurs.
By the extinction of dinosaurs mammals were able to develop and soon they became dominant creatures. The mammals seemed to be better prepared to the climate conditions.
