The decision taken by City Councils of one of the Polish bigger cities is very ridiculous. Instead of allocating funds in investments which are essential, they have decided to build a high modern skyscraper in the city centre. The effect is comical, because this high-tech building with glassy walls is surrendered by old small houses which are completely ruined.
How can the situation like that be possible? Why did the council spend money on building a new city hall, which is too big and too splendour, instead to renovate the old part of the city? Aren't there any important needs that should be fulfilled?
In my opinion, there are a lot of needs. First of all, City Council should take care of the poorest and homeless citizens. What is more, they should create more working places for unemployed people instead of thinking of building a new city hall.
Young people in our city think that the new city hall is one of the best investments of the City Council. They like the small café, which is located on the ground floor of the new building, where they can spend some time afters the classes. What is more, they don't see anything wrong in building such a huge skyscraper in the city centre whereas there are a lot of other needs.
This situation can be called an argument between younger and older generation. This kind of conflict is still actual and it probably will exists in the future.
