I was born in Warsaw and I have always lived here. Now I live in the block of flats in the city center. The city of my life is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River in the heartland of the Poland between the Baltic Sea coast and the Carpathian Mountains. Its population was estimated at over 1 million 700 thousand.

The first historical document about Warsaw are dated 14th century.

In 1596 King Sigismund III Vasa moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw. The original city was completely destroyed during World War 2. After the end of war Warsaw Polish rebuilt the city. Many of the historic streets, buildings, and churches were restored to their original form.

Warsaw is a very beautiful city nowadays. There are many interesting places to visit and to see. The greatest attraction for tourists is the Old City with Sigismund’s Column and the Royal Castle. A lot of people wish to see Royal Lazienki with the monument of Chopin and the Palace on the Water.

A very characteristic building in Warsaw is the Palace of Culture and Science with the view from the 30th floor from which we can see the whole city. In Warsaw there are a lot of shopping centres and street markets (with one of Warsaw’s icons The Golden Terraces), where we buy cheap fashionable and expensive designer clothes.

Warsaw has got one international airport and four train stations. It is the country's largest university and research centre. There are a lot of museums, cinemas, theatres and exhibitions. There is the Zoological Garden, with over 5,000 wildings, especially two gorillas.

In Warsaw there aren’t only buildings and streets, there are a lot of parks and places for long walks. My favourite place to rest is the garden on the roof of the University, one of the few modern buildings loved by me.

One of several serious problems of Warsaw it’s the communication, public transport, heavy traffic and pollution. In Warsaw there aren’t trolley buses but there are one underground line. I like my city very much.
