It was a rainy, foggy and cold morning in the autumn of 1880. Michelle Dibuois was standing among people crowding in the railway station in Paris and looking at the trains' timetable. She had lived in such poverty for the last few years that she decided to leave Paris and go abroad in search for a better life and better future. And there she was-dressed in an old brown coat and a hat, holding a small suitcase in her hand and thinking where to go. Finally, she decided to take train to Berlin, it was leavin in fifteen minutes.
Few hours late Michelle found herself on platform five in Berlin railway station. She was exhausted after the long journey and very hungry. It was early evening and she had not eaten anything since breakfast. She left her suitcase on the bench on platform five and went to a nearby cafe to buy something to eat. When she came back with two croissants in one hand and with a bottle of orange juice in the other, her suitcase was not there. It had been stolen. Tears filled Michelle's eyes and started to fall down her cheeks. She felt lonely and miserable. She did not know what to do now; she had lost all her belongins and she did not know a single person in the city. It was getting late and Michelle realized that she must find some accomodation. She went to the city and tried to find a room but she did not have enough money to pay for it. So she came back to the railway station, desperate and hopeless, and spent night sleeping on a bench.
Three days had passed and the girl lost all her hope. She left Paris in search for happiness but what she found was loneliness and despair. Michelle did not have any money now and she became very hungry. She was sitting on a bench on platform nine and observing people around her. Suddenly, she noticed a little girl playing on the railway track. Michelle could hear a train approaching the platform and she realized that the child was in danger. She rushed towards the girl and caught her in the last moment, saving her life. All the people gathered at the platform were looking at her and a young, crying woman approached, embraced the little girl and started to thank Michelle warmly.
Few minutes later, Michelle was sitting with the child and her mother in a restaurant, eating some warm soup and telling her story. The woman was moved by the misery Michelle had gone through and very grateful for saving her baby daughter's life. She took Michelle to her house where Michelle started to work as a babysitter.
"So finally I have found my happiness. Maybe now everything will finally change for better", thought Michelle when she was falling asleep in her warm bed.
