The legend of the Loch Ness Monster is very popular and probably most people have heard something about it. The Monster, called also Nessie, is said to live in Loch Ness-a deep lake in the northern Highlands of Scotland. It is said that the Loch Ness Monster is a large animal, similar to a dinosaur, and lives underwater. Many people claim that they have seen Nessie, others say that they even have taken the photos of the animal. However, the photos can be easily faked and, in fact, there is nor reliable scientific evidence that Nessie really exists.
The animal, whether it exists or not, has become a kind of tourist attraction which makes the lake seem mysterious andinteresting. It attracts thousands of people to Loch Ness every year. On the edge of the lake, there is even a special Loch Ness Monster Exhibition Centre for the tourists. People coming to the lake buy photos and posters of Nessie. The Monster was probably created for commercial purposes. If Loch Ness did not have its monster, the site would probably never become so famous.
