HOLIDAYS:
BONFIRE NIGHT -celebrated every year on 5 November in memory of a famous event in the British history-the Gunpowder Plot; it is also called Guy Fawkes Night.
HALLOWEEN- the night of 31 October; it is a time when children have parties, dress up as witches, make lanterns out of pumpkins and they play "trick or treat".
CHRISTMAS: the British do not celebrate Christmas Eve. On 25 December children finds their Christmas presents in stockings which they hang near the chimney or the fireplace on 24 December. On Christmas Day the British spend their time with their families, at home. They have Christmas dinner which traditionally consists of roast turkey, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts and other vegetables and of Christmas pudding (rich dried-fruit pudding)and brandy butter. After dinner, everyone pulls paper crackers, which make a loud bang and contain paper hats, jokes and small toys. The day after Christmas is called Boxing Day and then people usually goes out to enjoy themselves.
