From early childhood we are taught that eating is important- not only what we eat, but also how we do it. In many families meals eaten together are some part of the tradition. My family finds dinner on Sunday very important. I am the only kid of my parents. During the week, we rarely have time to eat together. My mother's parent live in the house next door, so we see them quite often. Each Sunday we meet my grandparents early in the morning. We are Catholics, so we all go to the mass together. After that, my dad and me are going to the supermarket. Mother gives us a note, what to buy. We do the shopping. Most important- we buy all that my mother needs to prepare the delicious dinner for all of us.

We go back home around 1 p.m. and then mom begins to prepare the meal. Me and my father help her. We are given special tasks to do. I usually peel the potatoes, my father prepares the vegetables for soup. My mother always takes care of the meat. We especially love her fried chicken, ribs in beer and pork chops. My grandmother has her duties too. She is responsible for making a sauce. My grandfather, in turn, makes desserts. I especially adore his chocolate pudding. The whole preparations take us usually 2 hours. We not only work, but have much fun doing all these things together.

We dine at 3:15 p.m. usually. We lay the table and sit around it. Each member of the family has his or her own place. My mother and I serve the dishes. the meal lasts at least an hour. We sit by the table talking. It is time to tell others about what happened during the whole weekend. We also discuss politics then. My grandparents often tell us stories from their lives.

When we finish, I clean the table. My mom makes coffee. We drink it and afterwards my grandparents go home. My parents usually have some work to do and I sit on the sofa, watching TV.

All in all, I like Sundays very much. Spending time with family is very important to me and to them as well.
