Although Tarnów is not a big and famous city, you can personally enjoy its unique atmosphere.
"Tarnovia" is the name of the most popular hotel, tidy, homely, and distinguished. A gorgeous fountain in front of it and its situation next to the magnificent Holy Family Minster of Missionary Fathers contribute to its elegance.
You can visit Tarnów's old town district, with architectural monuments such as the City Walls, The Holy Virgin Mary Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church, the Town Hall, the Bima (bimah - בימה), the "Mikołajowski" house, the relics of the Tarnowski Family castle and the Mansion at Gumniska Street. There are also other imposing structures, such as the ex-Bernardine Fathers Church, the Bernardine Monastery and the Holy Trinity Church. The Ethnographical Museum houses the Gypsy Heritage exposition whose ample collection has gained European popularity. The Diocese Museum houses the collection of Polish landed gentry's portraits and the collection of sacral paintings and sculptures.
Restaurants and bars are very numerous in Tarnów. "Bristol" is the most luxuriant place, which holds all the major celebrations and receptions, including the VIP ball and the like. There are many other restaurants and cafés, such as "Bella Italia", "Podzamcze", "Vietlan", "Ambrozja", "Hades" and "Pizzeria Maranto". The "Tatrzańska" Café is very popular, too.
Shopping in Tarnów is easy and pleasant. Designer clothes are sold at numerous shops in Wałowa Street, like "Jackpot and Cottonfield". The shops and restaurants in Krakowska Street are very trendy, too and they are considered the best places in Tarnów.
The most renowned clubs in town are "Blue Velvet", "Manhattan", "220V" and "Joker". Everybody can go dancing and have a good time there. Young people's favourites are the cosy clubs and cafés situated round the Market Square.
With its tradition and modern developments, Tarnów has become an active town, more and more vivacious than ever before.
