Each summer the action called The Great Orchestra and its famous director Jurek Owsiak organize the great musical event. It is rock & roll festival named "Przystanek Woodstock". The festival is organized by artists and bands that support the foundation of Jurek Owsiak. His foundation helps sick or suffered form accidents children. Polish Woodstock was inspired by famous American festival took place in Woodstock in 1969. However, Polish festival is organized in Żary, which is the small town near the Polish - German border. The festival unites a lot of young people, who want to have a good time. They claim to be tolerant regardless of the color of skin, sex, sexual orientation and the origin. During the festival a lot of Polish talented young band are free to present themselves. It is the great opportunity for non-commercial artists. In this way they may show their talents. This festival has been organized for eight years and today it is a kind of symbol of Polish pop culture. Moreover, it belongs to the biggest musical events set up in Poland. It is also a kind of sociological phenomenon, when thousands of young people arrive to this small town - Żary to hear unknown artists and enjoy.
