Easter is preceded by Holy Week. It starts on Palm Sunday, when the Christians go to the church with small palm branches in memory of Jesus Christ's entering to Jerusalem. On Holy Thursday we take part in the mass, which commemorates Jesus Christ's Last Supper. On Good Friday we celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is very solemn day and no one is allowed to eat meat. On the next day the Christians prepare baskets full of coloured eggs, sausage, ham, bread and cakes and go to the church to get the food blessed.

On Easter Sunday we celebrate the Christ Resurrection. All family members have the breakfast. They eat eggs and other food blessed. Colourful eggs are symbols of new life. The whole family gather together and spend some time eating breakfast and dessert. Easter cakes such as "mazurek" or "baba" are the most popular cakes during the Easter. That day we spend time with our family or visit friends. Children are often given some small presents such as sweets or mascots.

Easter Monday is connected with the old Polish custom called "Śmigus Dyngus". Boys splash girls with water and every one is wet. Splashing with water supposed to bring health and beauty. Easter Monday is the last day of celebration.
