Easter is a religious holyday and is preceded by forty days of Lent. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday and it means that no one is allowed to enjoy himself and everybody is supposed to limit the amount of food is eaten. The Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday, when we go to the church with a small colourful palm. This reminds the arrival of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem. The Friday before Easter is called Good Friday and that day we celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The Christian take part in the holy mess. That day no one is supposed to eat meat.

On Eater Saturday an old custom is cultivated: we go to the church to have the food blessed. First of all, we prepare to bless eggs painted in different colours and patterns, ham or sausage, piece of bread and a cake or some sweets. Children love painting eggs and going to the church with the baskets full of delicious food.

The most important day during Easter holiday is Easter Sunday, all Christian celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. In the morning the whole family gathers together to have the Easter breakfast. They eat the food blessed the day before. That day everyone should eat as much as he wants. For many of us it is a great possibility to spend more time with the family. Children are given some small presents, for example chocolate eggs or sweats. They believe that gifts are brought by bunnies.

To the Easter symbols belong eggs, bunnies, chicks and lambs.

On Easter Monday, which is also a day off, there is a very controversial custom. Every one splashes with water his relatives and friends, in spite of the fact that someone doesn't like to be splashed. That day the celebration of Easter is over.
