When I think about urban life, I always have in mind many disadvantages of it. There are huge traffic jams, terrible pollution of the air and many more crimes are committed there.

I cannot imagine, how terrible it must be to spend many ours in traffic jams every day in the morning an din the afternoon. Almost each inhabitant of the city has to deal with this problem going to work or school and coming back from it. The only way to solve this problem is to build many new roads in the cities. There are cities, which are badly organized and situated. It is extremely difficult to improve traffic situation there. Moreover, the restoration of the roads and building new ones requires large amount of money. There are few cities, which can afford it.

Another big problem for the cities is the growing pollution of the air, water and ground. The cars emit numerous poisonous gases. Although most of them uses unleaded petrol and all the factories reduced the emission of fumes, the general ecological situation has not changed for the better. The air in the cities is much more poisonous than in the countryside.

The cities are growing- they cover larger areas and more and more people live there. The areas surrounding the cities are in general inhabited by poor people. The distance between the rich and the poor is constantly growing. There are more and more unemployed. People have no ideas, what to do with their lives. They feel insecure and that is why many of them start taking drugs, drinking alcohol or committing crimes. We can do little to prevent it. Most important is to give young people good education and provide social care. The government might help to make people's lives better, if they could work effectively enough.

I think that if all people were given the choice, whether they would want to live in the city or in the country, most of them would choose the latter alternative. Nevertheless, our image of live in the village is very idealized. Rural life also has its disadvantages.

In the city it is much easier to get good education and there are better opportunities to get good job. Many people, who used to be farmers, now move to the city and look for the job there. The cities develop much quicker then villages and for many, life there seems to be much more beneficial.

There are also better places to entertainment in the cities. One can take part in cultural life there. You can go to the theatre or to the cinema. In the city, you have better access to politics and culture. There are many more interesting things to do in the cities. In my opinion, life in the city is all in all much more advantageous than life in the village.
