Dear Mark,

My name is John. I live in Gliwice- the city situated in the southern part of Poland. This area of southern Poland is called Silesia. It is quite a big city. There is the football team- GKS Piast there, which plays in the first league. The city has its own radio too. Gliwice was a city of great importance in history. On 31st August 1939, there started the fights, which lead to the beginning of the Second World War.

On the river Kłodnica, which flows in Gliwice, there is the port. The city is developing quickly. There are several shop centers, cafes, cinemas, museums and restaurants. The most significant monuments in the city are: town hall, defensive walls and the castle. In Gliwice there are many places, where you can go to entertain. Most people like going to McDonald's, walk in the parks or go to the swimming pool.

I consider Gliwice a beautiful city. I cannot imagine my life anywhere else. Most of my friends and all my family lives there.

I hope, you will be able to visit Gliwice, when you are in Poland.

I am looking forward to hearing from you,

John
