Everyday in the news we can hear about numerous crimes, which happen all around the world. Crimes and violence are present in our lives, whether we want it or not. Many people get killed and the killers are as well men, as women and children. It is even difficult to imagine, in what ways people murder others. Some people commit crimes because they are generally aggressive and they want to solve some problems in that way. The others are mad and psychopathic- they should be taken to psychiatric hospitals. Some want to check, if killing is as simple as they can see in the movies or in computer games. The kids often wonder, if a person has only one life, or if he or she will rise from death, like the superheroes.
People break the law in many different ways. There are muggers, kidnappers, shoplifters, vandals, smugglers, pickpockets and many other lawbreakers. No one can feel safe these days. People in the cities are afraid to walk alone at nights. Even in smaller towns and villages, the children are often not let go anywhere alone. Anytime and in any place you may be robbed, beaten or even killed. There are also many people, who commit less harmful crimes. As so many people nowadays are unemployed an homeless, they pay no taxes, they steal from others, sell drugs and do other bad things. Many young people are very violent and they often destroy others' property. They also drink alcohol and take drugs and sometimes they attack other people.
The most dangerous lawbreakers nowadays seem to be the terrorists. All of us have heard about the attack on World Trade Center and several other attacks of terrorists on civilian people in Europe.
Moreover, there are such crimes, which are not talked about and are not witnessed by strange people. The domestic violence is a serious problem of our times. It is impossible to estimate, how many children and women are regularly beaten and humiliated by the husbands and fathers. In many families such problem exists, but it is not talked about. Women are often ashamed and think that they are too week to change their situation. Numerous families live in constant fear. It is very important to inform the society, how to get help in such situations.
Is it possible to solve the problem of crimes? In my opinion, people have always been committing them and it cannot be stopped. However, we have to do everything we can to minimize the amount of crimes.
All those, who break the law should be severely punished. Moreover, they should be taken care of by the psychologists and people, who might learn them live in a different way. The prisons cannot change criminals into normal people. It is important to change this situation. I think that the prisoners should do some social work, be learnt and undergo a psychotherapy. I am sure that at least some of them could be changed and start to live as normal citizens.
In my opinion it is not right that there are so many prisoners in the prisons, and that we all have to pay for them. Those criminals, who are sentenced to stay in prison for a long time, should rather work hard and serve others. of course, not all criminals could do that, but some of them.
I am not really sure, if I am for or against death penalty. I think that no one has a right to kill the deprive the other person of life. We should rather make them pay for what they did. But on the other hand, when I think that someone could kill a person, whom I love, I am not sure if I would not like such person to be killed. I understand that the families of the people, who had a relative, who was murdered, may want the murderer to be killed. They are very angry and sad. However, I wouldn't like the capital punishment to be legal.
