On 15th May 2003, Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. on the crossing of the streets Zwierzyniecka and Mickiewicza in Krakow, a terrible accident happened. A huge cistern, which was transporting gas, drove into a passenger car. The police say that the driver of the truck caused the crash. He drove into the crossing, although he had a red light. After the two cars crashed, the huge fire exploded. The firemen arrived in few minutes. There came also an ambulance and three police cars. The man, who drove the small car was seriously injured. The doctors were able to keep him alive, because there is a hospital next to the crossing. The truck driver suffered small injury and he was taken to the hospital only to be examined well. The accident caused enormous traffic jams in the city. The public services needed two hours to remove the parts of both. Further damages caused by the explosion will be repaired soon.
