Golden Sand Hotel
Cairo
16th June, Monday
Dear Anna
Thanks a lot for the latest news from you. I hope you're ok and you've already got used to your new job.
You know that I've always wanted to see the pyramids -and, finally, my dream has come true! My boyfriend made me a surprise for our third anniversary and took me to Egypt for a week-that's why I'm writing this letter in Cairo.
We arrived here on Saturday and started sightseeing on Sunday morning. The first thing we visited was the Sphinx. This awesome construction, being a portrayal of Chefren Pharaoh, who gave the order to build the Sphinx, is enormous. Can you imagine that its length is seventy-three meters and it's as high as twenty meters? I was stunned when I saw it. Another interesting object was the Big Pyramid, built not far from the Sphinx. On that day, we also had a walk in the desert and a ride on a camel's back. It was a very exciting experience for me.
We've been staying in a nice hotel, near the city-center an we have a room with a view of a beautiful garden of a nearby five-star hotel. Yesterday morning Adam- my boyfriend and I decided to have breakfast on the terrace and I was stupid enough to go there with bare feet. And do you know what? I was bitten by some insect! The bite started swelling immediately and we had to call a hotel doctor. He gave me an injection, prescribed some pills and told me not to expose myself to the sun for one day. That meant that I couldn't actually leave my room. Adam stayed with me and looked after me and, in fact, we spent quite a nice day, just relaxing. I feel ok now and the day is sunny and humid. We're jus about to go on a trip to a nearby town to visit some pyramids. Adam is getting impatient so I must finish writing.
I'm coming back on Saturday, hope you'll visit me soon.
Hugs and kisses
Joanna
