Learning foreign languages has become fashionable nowadays. Moreover, it is not only trendy but, most of all, it has become essential in the modern world. Most employers take it for granted that people applying for posts in their companies can speak at least one foreign language.
Today the ability to speak English is nothing to brag about since most people consider it the most basic ability of every educated person. The more foreign languages you know, the more chances to get good job you have. More and more western comapnies establish their branches in Poland and they search for Polish employees. The condition is, however, that you have to speak not only English but also German, French or Italian. The knowledge of English is not only essential if you want to find a profitable job in Poland but also when you search for workin foreign countries. Additionally, it is also very useful when you go on holidays abroad and cannot speak the native language of people living there. Moreover, English is the language of many scientific research or academic publications therefore students who know it, can use variety of resources while writing theirs dissertations. In fact, since the popularity of English is so widespread, it has become an international language. In the past, Latin used to be the language of science, literature and medicine. Today, scientists and scholars communicate in English. What is more, the language is also very useful in our daily life because we can hear it on TV or on the radio and read it in the newspapers or books.
Learning foreign languages is not an easy task, however, it is very important in the modern world. Therefore, language schools and language summer camps are becoming more and more popular. Foreign languages are taught not only in schools but also in nurseries and many children even take addiational English or French lessons. It could be said that we try to do everything to overcome the results of the collapse of Biblical Tower of Babel.
