1. Snowboarding is a winter sport, which became popular in 1970’s and 1980’s. It’s similar to skiing, but it was inspired by surfing and skateboarding. All you need is snowboard, snow, mountain, goggles, helmet and smile!

2. Snowboarding started in 1960’s. The first snowboard was designed by Sherman Poppen for his children. They lived in Michigan. So snowboarding started in United States. In 1979 there was first competition called “World Surfing Championship”. In 1998 snowboarding became a Winter Olympic Sport.

3. If you want to be a snowboarder, you should buy special equipment. You naturally need a snowboard. You should also have goggles, helmet, special boots and warm overalls. If you haven’t got much money, you can borrow equipment from snowboarding clubs or schools. You can also buy second-hand equipment.

4. Safety is probably the most important thing to many of us. There’s a lot of styles of snowboarding, for example freestyle or freeride. So you can ride on mountains like skiers do, or you can jump on special ramps. Jumps are a little bit more dangerous, but it’s not a big risk.

5. There’s a lot of snowboard schools near mountains. You can also find something in Internet. Snowboarding became really popular in Poland now, so if you want to learn, there’s no a problem.
