I saw many different cities and I have one which is my favorite. It is a city in England: Cirencester. I was there during my holidays three years ago. It is a large town. It lies 150 kilometers west of London.
The city lies on the river Churn and near Cotswold Hills. Cirencester is a centre of the region and provides employment education and shops for local villages. Many tourist come to the city. There are five main areas in the town: the centre, three suburbs, Beeches Estate and a village of Siddington. The town was created when Romans were in England. It is an old town and there are many historical monuments. There is a church of St John the Baptist which comes from the sixteenth century. It has a beautiful tower and south porch. To the west of the town is the house of Earl Bathurst (1684-1775) who made the town more beautiful; he created Oakley Park. He was a patron of art and literature. On Cotswold Avenue there is a Roman amphitheatre which is not visible because it is underground. But we can see the shape of it.
There are many tourist attractions in Cirencester. Tourist can also buy souvenirs and other things in shops. There are many restaurants and pubs when tourists can eat. They can stay in one of the hotels of the town, for example Corinium Hotel or Bibury Court Hotel. The city lies near the place where Cheltenham Festival is. The festival is National Hunt racing. It is very important and popular competition in England. It takes place every year in March.
The area is very clean, there is not a lot if industry. I recommend this place for holidays to those people who are interested in English history and culture.
