Christmas is a very special time in the year. People try to behave better than usual and are good for the other. It is the main reason why I like this period of time very much. I enjoy spending Christmas with my family - they also change for better at that time. The most important day of Christmas is the twenty-fourth of December. In the morning we decorate the Christmas tree, which we bought earlier, together. On the top of the tree there is a big, Silver Star, there are also colorful lamps and chains. Later I help my mother in the kitchen when she prepares the Christmas meal. There are many dishes but not the traditional twelve. I like especially the borsch and the carp. If there is snow I go on the courtyard with my siblings and we make a snowman or an igloo.
The main part of the day begins at five o'clock when the whole family gathers at the table. Usually the brother of my father comes to us from Katowice with his family and we spend Christmas together. Before the supper we talk a lot. We talk about various topics: from the family life to politics. After the supper when the discussion starts to be boring to us, I go with my cousins to my room. We talk or play games. Then we go outside and look for the first star. If we see it we tell the parents and the supper starts. At the beginning we wish everybody good health and happiness and eat Wafer.
When we finish we sit down and eat the supper. Usually there are about 6 dishes. I eat everything but my favorite dish is a borsch and I always eat a lot of it and after every Christmas I gain a few additional kilograms. When the supper is over I go with my cousins to the Christmas tree and we unpack our presents. Usually I get some clothes, for example socks, but sometimes it is a book or money. I think that the last gift is the best because later I can but what I want. At midnight we all go to the church, this is a family tradition and nobody breaks it. When we return we eat some cakes and go to beds and the next day we sleep till midday. I like Christmas very much because of the special atmosphere which can be felt on that day. People really try to be better for other. However, it is sad that some of them do it only on that day.
