In numerous countries all over the world, there are more and more people, who have no homes. We may meet them everywhere we go. In big cities, they live in parks, under the bridges, on the yards and in old, deserted buildings. Some of them beg for food and money. Most homeless people have no families, many drink alcohol or take drugs. Not all of them would like to have different lives…
Why so many people live such lives nowadays? We can hear almost every day about the companies, which go bankrupt and people, who lose their jobs. More and more families brake up. People are lonely and cannot find good place for themselves in modern society. Numerous people get addicted to different substances- alcohol and drugs. It makes them unable to live normal lives. They become criminals. No employer would give them regular job.
It seems impossible to get rid of this problem completely. Some people simply choose living outside the society and we cannot prevent them from doing so. But certainly the government should take care of the problem of homelessness.
First of all, much has to be done to reduce the rate of unemployment. Many people, who have great education and are well prepared for some job, cannot find it at all. Although they are well-educated, they are not able to earn their livings.
Moreover, there have to be many organizations, which could provide the homeless at least one hot meal a day. We cannot let them starve.
There are too few shelters and hostels for the homeless. When winter comes, many of them die because of freezing.
In my opinion, it is possible to make the lives of the homeless easier. Also the volunteers working on the streets might help some of them. Each of us should try to do at least one thing to help those, who are in worse situation.
