In Europe, smoking is nowadays considered the most serious cause of death of numerous people. Cigarettes kill more people every single year then do road accidents, the abuse of drugs and extreme sports. Smoking is the cause of more than 25% of coronary heart diseases and 90% of lung cancers. Most people suffering from these diseases die. If you do not smoke, the risk that you may have lung cancer is very small.

People smoke cigarettes for many different reasons. Many young people begin smoking because they want to show others that they are mature or because their friends smoke and they do not want to be any different. In many families, children smoke, because their parents do and they consider it a completely normal thing. When a young person begins smoking, they do not realize, how difficult it is to quit it.

There are also such people, who simply like smoking. For them it is pure pleasure. They are aware, what are the consequences of such behavior, but they cannot imagine life without cigarettes. For others, smoking is a very bad habit, which it is difficult to abandon.

Nowadays, all smokers are aware, how bad it is for their health. In England a few years ago there was an interesting experiment organized. One Englishman- a very heavy smoker- used to say that every smoker communicates to others some information, depending on what type of cigarettes he or she smokes. A person, who is sociable and likes to go out with others, usually smokes Marlboro. Someone smoking Benson says that he or she is rather classy. That man decided to produce the cigarettes 'Death'. Unfortunately, no costumer would buy them. Why was it so? He explains that if anyone bought those cigarettes, they would communicate to others that they are consciously trying to kill themselves. And the smokers in general try not to think about death. They live as if they did not know about the dangerous effects of smoking. You can see it in the advertisements of cigarettes- they usually show us beautiful happy people, and not those, who die on lung cancer.

What are the facts? People, who smoke, have many health problems. Many of them suffer from bronchial diseases, hart diseases, they have problems with breathing or suffer from lung cancer. Moreover, smokers are exposed to the danger of impotence and problems with fertility.
