Most older people say that they would love to be young again. They may think that if they had another chance, they would be able not to make the same mistakes. Nevertheless, when we are young, we don't have this experience and we usually make many bad decisions. Some people regret them for their whole lives.
As I am seventeen years old, my view on being a teenager is subjective. I am unable to compare my life to a life of an older person. I observe adults and I have some reflections concerning their lives. The certain thing is that being young has many good as well as many bad points. I will discuss some of them.
When you are young you are supposed to decide, what you would like to do in the future. It is your time to choose the way of living that you want. You can never know, if you make a good or a bad decision. For example, you can decide that you want to have a happy family, wonderful children and well-paid job, or that you will become a theft. Some people claim that it is good that everyone has a chance to make his own choice. But it can happen that that a person doesn't know, what is bad and what is good for him or her. They often start drinking alcohol or taking drugs, because they do not know, how dangerous it is.
Young people think quickly, they don't need much time to gain knowledge. They work faster than older people. Their brains work very well.
As long as you are a teenager, you usually live with your parents. You don't have problems with paying bills or renting the house. Parents give their children money, which we can spent on whatever we want.
People often say that it is wonderful to be a teenager. When you are young, you don't need to worry about so many different things. You also have much free time. But in my opinion, it is not as fantastic as you may think. Teenagers must study hard to be able to get a well-paid job when they grow up. We usually spend more than eight hours a day at school. When they go back home, they need to do the homework.
The adults want their lives to be well organized and peaceful. They often think stereotypically. They do not tolerate others, who have different opinion on some matters. We, teenagers, are more open minded and we have much more tolerance for others.
When you are young, you can dedicate much time to your friends. You can work on developing your skills. Teenagers can concentrate on their hobbies. They are not responsible for matters as cooking, washing the dishes or cleaning the room. When they grow up, they will have to do it.
